U-Haul Moving & Storage of Inglewood
964 S La Brea Ave, Inglewood, CA 90301, United States
U-Haul of Inglewood was all bad -- from start to finish. I literally had seven different problems: can't count on the on-line system; they don't follow their own procedures; they don't have helpful staff; their management was incompetent, rude and dishonest; they literally asked me to buy parts to repair their non-operational equipment; it took 1.5 hours to get a trailer; and then they hit me with surprise fees. Here're the details:1. Can't count on the on-line system. I initially reserved elsewhere on-line. Within minutes, I got a call from U-Haul saying that, no, they didn't really have available trailers there and I was being switched to U-Haul of Inglewood.2. Don't follow their own procedures. The email and on-line said I would get an advance call from my site to go over arrangements. Never happened, although they had several days to call. I had to call U-Haul on my way there. Got no warning of problems. BUT, believe me, there were problems.3. Don't have helpful staff. Got to the site, drove through their lot passing multiple trailers that matched my specs without seeing anyone out there. So much for “advance check-in to expedite your pick-up”. Went inside, went straight to a counter with no line, but waited for minutes trying to get the attention of the clerk sitting right there. She was too busy with her phone to notice me waving or hear me trying to talk to her through the plexiglass barrier. She then told they didn't have a trailer for me, even though I'd seen several on the lot, but couldn't explain why not. She claimed the ones I'd seen, “must be reserved.” I pointed out I had a reservation, so one should be reserved for me. Didn't help. So, over to the assistant manager.4. Incompetent, rude, dishonest management. The assistant manager started the conversation by telling me I didn't need to be inside, “they could have taken care of you outside.” I told her that no one was in sight outside. She told me I was wrong. We went outside. No one was in sight. Still no explanation of why no trailer.5. Didn't have a key part, wanted me to buy it elsewhere, come back and effectively donate it to them. It turned out, they claimed, that their trailers' wiring harnesses had been stolen. They wanted me to go to AutoZone, buy one, and let them cut it up so they could splice it to their trailer's wiring. First had an argument with the assistant manager who literally wanted to insist that the trailers were fully equipped, they just couldn't be used without the missing equipment. Then had to argue about getting reimbursed for buying the missing part. (Goes back to incompetent, rude, dishonest management.)6. Total time to get out with a trailer – despite no customers ahead of us – was about 1.5 hours. As anyone knows who's had a time window for a move, we were between a rock and a hard place. So, we went through with it, and finally got out.7. Surprise fee on the final bill. They asked us if we could still have it back by 6:00 pm. We said we could. They said – only then – that they close at 5:30, but, “No problem – just leave the trailer. We'll check it in in the morning and you'll get the receipt by email.” We asked if they were sure there was no problem. They said yes. That was all they said. Despite them holding us up by 1.5 hours, we had the trailer back by 6:15 pm. We took pictures to prove it. Nevertheless, with no warning that this would happen, the bill arrived with an “After Hours Service Fee” tacked on. The fee more than doubled the original quoted rental cost. So, no, I have nothing good to say about U-Haul of Inglewood. Bad experience from start to finish. Go anywhere else.

Miguel, manager had told me when I bought 5 wardrobe boxes from him a couple weeks back I could return any unused boxes for a refund, fair enough! Today when I walked in to ask for him to buy back a couple boxes I did not use, they were in the same spot in my truck as Miguel put them, he had his back turned to me the whole time refusing to assist me with the buy back. His assistant whose body took up at least 3/4 of the room in the office gave me a sheepish look and was right to the book. I left in the mid conversation with Miguel because once again he had his back turned to me belligerent the whole time. Called a Neighborhood U-Haul? I would not think of it in this way.Would I recommend you to do business with Miguel and Thumbalina? NO! Not at all. Disappointed Buyer in Los Angeles 90045

The pickup and drop off experience for the U-Haul was pretty smooth. Didnt have to wait at all both times. The lady who runs the store is very polite, helpful and made sure the everything about the U-Haul reservation checked out.

Warning Buyer Beware : Warning Do Not Use : Warning Buyer Beware : Warning Do Not UseUpdated : 10/16/23Warning to the General Public: Stay Extra Far Away from this or any Extra Space establishment! It is nothing more than a deceitful and manipulative operation that will leave you feeling scammed and taken advantage of. They lure you in with a month-to-month lease, but dont be fooled - they reserve the right to cancel, change, or jack up the price whenever they please. And trust me, they will.I made the mistake of renting a space for my trailer at $275 per month, only to have them pull the rug out from under me just three months later. They gave me a measly month to pack up my belongings, return from overseas, find a vehicle for towing, and locate a new spot in the middle of summer. It was an impossible task, to say the least. Eventually, I found another spot at an Extra Space in Redondo Beach, a whopping 20 miles away. But just when I thought I could finally relax, they pulled the same stunt again. They started my rent at $145 and then had the audacity to hike it up by a mind-boggling 56% to over $221 per month with only a months notice!I have rented storage spaces for years where the price remained locked in upon signing, with no changes for years on end. But Extra Space is not like those reputable places. It is only suitable if you need a temporary solution for a month or two at most. If you plan on storing your belongings for any longer, be prepared to constantly relocate, pay exorbitant fees, or desperately search for another facility. Extra Space is nothing short of extortion and a despicable way to conduct business.Updated 10/16/2023I have finally escaped the clutches of Extra Space and closed my account and moved out. Wow do I feel so much more secure not being there. I will never, under any circumstances, do business with Extra Space again. Interestingly, they commented on my review below and even applied a $40 credit to my account when I was moving out. Its clear they were trying to save face, but their actions were too little, too late. They mention that their short term lease policy is beneficial to most as their are no long term contracts but what would you consider a long term contract? 2 months, 6 months, 8 months, 1 year or more? They very quickly charged me way more than what I expected to pay an could afford within a few months of moving in. This is a tactic to hold your belongings for ransom, to over charge you knowing that you most likely not move out anytime soon and you will just pay instead of renting another moving truck and finding another storage space and moving all your times out then back into the new place. If you don't want to do that then don't rent from Extra Space. Not here not anywhere. This is not a location specific issue it's a corporate driven greed and direction. However it was not surprising that the staff at the Redondo Beach facility also showed concern or gratitude for my business.I cannot stress this enough: Buyer Beware! Do not store your valuable items or engage in any business with this Extra Space storage facility, or any others for that matter. Unfortunately, Extra Space continues to live up to the shady reputation that plagues the moving and storage industry. Just remember the only “EXTRA” you will get from this space is extra charges!I will be posting and reporting this on the BBBas well.1 Start is too much - Zero StarsI wish you all good luck.Warning Buyer Beware : Warning Do Not Use : Warning Buyer Beware : Warning Do Not Use
Public Storage

Facilities are nice and clean, elevators are big enough to handle large furniture, and the property seems very secure. Theres a homeless encampment down on the corner but they dont seem to bother anyone. They have flatbeds that you can borrow that make it easier to wheel your stuff from the parking lot to your unit. The staff is also very helpful. There are no waste bins, so if you need to throw stuff away, youll need to take your trash somewhere else. Thats understandable, I could see where they wouldnt want to handle so much trash.I have two main complaints. First, the weekend hours are a little too short. Most people move on the weekends, so it would be nice if the units were accessible later on weekends. If you are already inside the gates, though, you can stay as long as you need. You just cant go out and come back in after closing.Second, the rent goes up quite a bit each year, it seems like more than the rent for living accommodations. When I first rented my unit back in 2013, I was paying $138 for a 10x10 on the second floor. This year (2022), I got a notice saying my rent was going up 20% to $417, so my rent has tripled in the past 9 years. And this was after my rent went up 28% six months ago. I had to call to find out why my rent was going up twice in six months (before this, they were just raising rents once a year) and they agreed to hold off on the current rent increase for another six months. But still, its crazy how they dont seem to value their long term renters who are providing them with a steady source of revenue. I think Ill look around for another storage place so I can start off again with lower rent.
