U-Haul of Santa Monica

I had a pretty horrible experience with this location. Firstly, there was some good to be had with the company itself. The truck was almost new and therefore in good condition. After the use of the truck, I had a billing issue which took a few calls to customer service; all of those people were enthusiastic, helpful and polite. Return to a local drop off spot was super easy and staffed by a nice guy. I kept my part of the deal with gas, etc., so no unexpected charges afterwards. But my experience at this location was enormously off-putting. The man who assumed responsibility for helping me was enormously rude. Im waiting to speak to someone at a desk when I hear this guy standing 20 feet behind me ask what do you need? There were no lights on this day because of an electrical blackout on the block, so I couldnt see his eyes. Given that I was next to another person waiting and that he did not address anyone (sir, maam, or even a hey, you), I asked to whom he was speaking. He tells me, and this is word for word, Im talking to you. Come here. If Im going to talk to you I need you here, not standing over there. This in the most arrogant tone imaginable. I felt like I was getting stopped by the police. Unbelievable.Sadly, I had to deal with this member of societys finest through the whole process, trying my best to suppress my anger. To top it off, he shorted me on the moving blankets I had reserved and paid for, the charges of which customer service took care of with no hassle. To top it off, they have employees that smoke on a bench next to the entrance door. This in Santa Monica, CA where it is illegal to smoke on a public sidewalk anywhere near a business. I literally had walk through cigarette smoke to enter the business.Next time, Im biting the bullet and paying the extra money for Penske.

Extra Space Storage

I don't tend to make a habit of commenting publicly on where I do business; unless there is a real problem.A few weeks ago, my wife and I needed to rent some additional storage space, maybe for just a few months. We live in Pacific Palisades, adjacent to Santa Monica, in a well-known mobile home park on Pacific Coast Highway. It HAD to be close by.We do drive pastEXTRA SPACE STORAGE, on Cloverfield at Santa Monica consistently. The building exterior, as much as the has a clean look to it, unlike many storage companies the warehouse district. To us: CLEAN is good. The next morning, I dropped by to see if they had any small storage rooms available. As I entered the lobby, the person in charge also surfaced from the private back area.We each met with a smile.I related I wanted to rent a small unit for a few months. She said, “I have an idea. You are going to love the room I will show you. Come with me.” A personal tour? Sure. For what must be their smallest, lowest-cost, little-but-immaculate space: Terri closed up the office and accompanied me nearby to the perfect space for my cartons. Most businesses will give you a map and suggest that YOU go find what you're looking for!She repeated the couple turns we'd made, suggesting that writing them down was the easy way never to get lost in the long-but-well-lighted hallways.I was being treated and regarded as if I were the billionaire, paying $5,000a month storage rent—instead of a fraction of that. The woman there, recalling her name as Terri, greeted me with a smile, locked up the office, personally walked me to the projected storage room she had selected, and made it special. Terri tailored the experience to MY time schedule and departed, as she thanked ME for stopping by.Simply, I was impressed. Not an easy task. That's why I am writing this. The ownership, leadership, and the management of EXTRA SPACE STORAGE, even Terri, really “get it” and know how to convert one-shot customers into long-term clients.Yes, they have every possible device to make this no-fun time simpler. Yet, it's the attitude and the energy there that impressed me most.Respectfully,Bob Rubin

The staff at extra space storage unit located at 5825 Santa Monica Blvd Storage is amazing. I must say it was a fantastic experience from start. The convenience and quality of service exceeded my expectations.First and foremost, the facility itself is impressive. Its well-maintained, clean, and secure. The security measures in place, including surveillance cameras and access controls, gave me peace of mind knowing that my belongings were safe.Beth & Susie at the Storage went above and beyond to assist me. They were friendly, professional, and eager to help with any questions I had. They guided me through the rental process, helped me choose the right size units for my needs, and even offered useful packing tips. What truly stood out to me was the accessibility of the storage unit. The facility offered extended access hours, allowing me to retrieve or store my items at my convenience. The loading and unloading process was hassle-free, thanks to the well-designed layout and ample parking space.Additionally, the climate control feature was a game-changer. I had some delicate items that required a controlled environment, and the climate-controlled units provided the perfect solution. My belongings remained in pristine condition throughout the storage period.Overall, my experience with Beth &Susie has all way been amazing and exceptional. Landmarks Nuart Theatre
11272 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025, United States
In the bustling heart of West LA, tucked away on Santa Monica Blvd., the Nuart Theater stands as a cinematic haven with a charming facade that sends me back to the bygone era of classic cinema. Its exterior, adorned with vintage marquee lights, beckons travelers to step into a world where time slows down.Entering through the doors, the aroma of freshly popped popcorn envelops you, setting the tone for a night of cinematic delight. The staff, exuding warmth and friendliness, make you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in. We grabbed some popcorn, drinks, and a pack of jujubes and were off.Inside, the Nuart Theater surprises with its quiet intimacy. The hushed atmosphere adds to the allure, transporting you to a place where the magic of film takes center stage. We were among a handful of patrons, creating an almost private screening experience in the massive auditorium. Our chosen film, Society of the Snow, unfolded on the large silver screen with captivating brilliance, earning a solid 10/10. Post-film, we took it upon ourselves to tidy up what little mess we made, a small gesture of appreciation for the staff. We parked just behind the theater on a residential street, and while I felt relatively safe during the late night walk, I can understand a small group of individuals having their reservations, but there was also parking on Sawtelle, which is a more brightly lit and busier street. Overall, the Nuart Theater is a cinematic gem that goes beyond screening movies; it crafts an immersive journey, leaving you overwhelmingly pleased with this hidden treasure of West LA.
Top Jolt Cycle
5040 Santa Monica Ave, San Diego, CA 92107, United States
Tl;dr:Overall great experience renting cruisers from Top Jolt. The bikes were perfect for biking along the boardwalk to the many different SD beaches! 4 stars instead of 5 only because Todd does not have a physical shop location which required a bit more phone call effort and pickup/drop-off coordination. Though Todd did deliver the bikes to our Airbnb which was a nice touch! Would recommend.Longer version:We had a really good time with our Top Jolt bike rentals. Rented for the day and got to cruise all around the SD beaches and surrounding neighborhoods. We were staying in Ocean Beach (OB) for the weekend and wanted to bike along the boardwalk but there are so many bike rental places in SD it was overwhelming. Top Jolt seemed the most affordable and accessible if youre not staying in a vacation rental right on the ocean. There are a ton of bike rental places along the boardwalk but they seemed overpriced and we werent staying right by the water so it would have been a bit of a walk. Todd was extremely accommodating and even dropped off the bikes at the Airbnb we were staying at in OB. He does not have a physical shop location which was a bit confusing at first when we were trying to figure out how to rent from him. We ended up just calling him and giving him all of our information, which felt a bit sketchy, hence only 4-stars. But in the end, it was a perfectly fine experience and Todd was incredibly kind. Would recommend Top Jolt!
The HAUS Santa Monica - Independent MINI Cooper...
2621 Pico Blvd Unit A, Santa Monica, CA 90405, United States
As an owner of a Mini riddled with a litany of issues, the Mini dealerships (and I went to 3 different dealerships) were constantly trying to get me to spend more money on repairs/replacements that werent relevant. From the get go, there were no such vibes at The Haus. Kevin at the Santa Monica location was extremely helpful and informative. Upon completing inspection, Kevin explained exactly what the issue was and what needed to be done. My case, in particular, involved a water pump leak which Mini had recalled in the past.Kevin informed me of the warranty policy and allowed me to check with the Mini dealership if I still qualified for the warranty and a free replacement instead of just shelling out for the repair, giving me a chance to save on an expensive repair. While I did end up not qualifying for the warranty, the repair/replacement costs were more than fair relative to the exorbitant prices at the Mini dealership.Customer service was, hands down, the best Ive experienced when it came to servicing cars. Kevin offered an early drop off option in case I had to be out of the house early. When the car was done, I was unable to go to the shop to pick up, to which Kevin offered a free car drop off at my apartment and took payment over the phone. Circumstances on both ends did lead to this but it goes to show how much care is put into providing top notch service to their clients. With my car running as it should and a wonderful experience, this will certainly be my go to shop.
Le Mridien Delfina Santa Monica
530 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405, United States
From the moment we enter the Hotel we were impressed. The Lobby was clean and well appointed. It was our interaction with Frances, her generous accommodations to our requests and her warm, personal, gracious, hospitality that started our wonderful stay. In our reservation note we had mentioned this was our first visit and we were celebrating a birthday. Frances greeted us with choices to all our requests. We had been upgraded from a queen size bed to a king. We were also given the choice of another room higher up, with a shower stall: but only two twin beds. We choose the initial room with another generous consideration on Francess behalf. Due to covid19 restrictions we were told that housekeeping was not available for stays of less than four days. Understandable. And then Frances offered to book a visit from housekeeping halfway thru our three night stay. Wow. Accommodations after accommodations. And then we were offered two glasses of sparkling rose to welcome us.The bellman helped with our luggage to the room. The room was perfect. Spacious, well appointed, and immaculate. Perfect size closet, generous amount of hangers, and a luggage rack. Not seen as often these days. The bathroom, also immaculate, great selections of towels and a huge vanity. The shelf underneath was a fantastic touch. The King size been was very comfortable. Firm, and gentle at the same time. Comfortable sheets and oversized pillows. Ample drawers for clothes. The enclosed safe, and refrigerator, both nice touches. My favorite was the additional electrical plugs built into the extra large tables used on both sides of the bed. And in fact we did have a view of the ocean, and a small deck large enough for two chairs. Each employee we interacted with was gracious, friendly, and accommodating. From the gentleman maintaining the pool area, to the extremely friendly Latina valet who was directing traffic to the parking garage the last two days of our stay. We also had a concern with the air-conditioning, and a gentleman from engineering was at our door to fix the issue in less than five minutes. The pool was so enjoyable. Just the right size. The patio was perfect. Chairs, umbrellas, lounge chairs and the mini cabanas. Towels available, and a coinvent bathroom located near by. We enjoyed our daily glass of complementary sparkling rose. We also had nightly contact with Frances. Recommendations for restaurants to dine at and places to shop. No question was unanswered. All suggestions were spot on. Our interactions with Frances were always sincere and it was appreciated that our names were always remembered. We were truly sad to leave. Our stay, directed by the consummate professional Frances was memorable. We would in fact stay with you again in the future. And highly recommend The Le Meridien Delfina Hotel Santa Monica.
