Extra Space Storage
1700 De La Cruz Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050, United States
I had the worst experience in all my adult years being a patron at a professional establishment. This review mainly reflects Neil, but also includes Todd the corporate manager. I was never acknowledged by Neil, nor was he ever welcoming or courteous, I let it go, and strictly dealt with Josh. This was a very difficult time in my life. However I continued to forge ahead doing everything in my power to be positive, courteous, and not give up considering many insurmountable obstacles. I paid my storage rent on time, I was respectful of the facility. As a single woman alone moving with very limited resources, the process was difficult, trying to move out of the unit. Neil was very rude, in ways Ive never experiences, in a business, he gave me judmental and disgusted glares never smiling, or speaking to me,. I let it go never making an issue, because maybe i was just being sensitive or misreading him. I had spent over 8 hours at my storage pulling everything out trying to downsize. I was told by Neil first time ever speaking to me(rude and condesending) you cant dump your garbage here referring to a tiny side table that I could not fit but would return the next day, to complete move out, Neil drives up on his golf cart with his disgusted look on his face, telling me you know we close at 10 you need to hurry and get this done to be out on time it was only 6 pm, I replied Im doing the best I can, being I kept having to repack my storage, i wasnt able to put 2 very nice white leather bar stools in to heavy Im exhausted physically and mentally, again not trash, i just simply could not lift the chairs into my space, they Neil and Josh were very aware of my circumstance, I doing all I can to vacate. I come back the next day arranging a truck finally to remove big stuff and finally be able to completely move out, to come to a locked gate. Neil denied me access to get in to complete my move out, saying you dumped trash allover left a huge mess. Absolute LIE AND COMPLETE EXAGGERATION! two nice chairs are not dumping trash. He not only locked me out, but he charged me $100.00 dumping penalty. I asked him kindly please consider Im doing best I can, its very difficult to arrange for people who are helping me, and this is causing me an extreme hardship, Neil proceeded to tell me he didnt care, calling me a liar and telling me he did not trust me, so I would have to suffer his outlandish control issues. I only needed 20 minutes and would be completley vacated. Neil continued to be very cold and uncompromising causing more hardship, while treating me inhumane, which is a violation of my civil rights. I took it to corporate and Todd was siding with Neil and giving me a no win situation. This delayed me 4 days of moving time. It wasnt until I called Josh asking him to assist me in this horrific process being he was who I was working with. He was understanding and knew I was simply trying to move out. Neil continued to place obstacles, setting me up for failure. And Todd hung up on me denying me any sort of solution. After all said and done Josh with his kind heart allowed me back in and in 10 min I was totally vacated, after all the delay from Neil blocking me all i had was 10 min of work. Josh waived all fees, and apologized for the incompetent judgmental irrational behaviour Neil and Todd. Ive put this complaint to the BBB, in Hopes they learn a lesson in humanity. I will never conduct business with this company, due to their poor choice in employees. Thanks to Josh they didnt have a lawsuit on their hands for defamation of character, and violating my civil rights. Acknowledge josh as your saving grace and being the reason you get 1 star. Fire Neil and Todd for their poor customer service, spiteful ways, outdated control issues instead of having compassion and seeing reality. They discrimnated at its gross highest level. Im still appaulled at his behaviour. Josh should be their boss, they would do well to learn a lesson in humility and kindness from him.
Public Storage
881 Duane Ave, Santa Clara, CA 95054, United States
Our storage unit was broken in to and our stuff stolen. We had insurance through public storage but they refused to cover any losses. If you store anything here make sure it isnt valuable because there is a big chance it wont be there when you want it. Total waste of money.Worth noting, the staff ask you to leave a 5 star review when you sign up. All these 5 star reviews are posted the day they sign up. Take it from someone who had stuff stored here for a year. Buyer be warned. The insurance will gas light you into filling out all the paperwork, reassuring you that it will all be ok. Then after hours of filling out forms they deny you. Not only was my stuff stolen, so was my time.
Estancia at Santa Clara Apartments
1650 Hope Dr, Santa Clara, CA 95054, United States
Overall 2.5/5: I would not recommend Estancia (an Equity property) to my friends and families. I lived in Estancia from March/2022 to April/2024. I will break my rating into five categories, starting with the cons:- Price 0/1: First, the rent is 5-10% higher above fair market price IMO, with some hidden or higher fees such as 50$/M valet trash service and 75$/M cat rent, +25$ above normal price. Second, renewal increases 10% (max allowed by law) every year. My rent went 2702 -> ~2970(+10%) -> negotiated to 2840 (+5%) -> ~3100 (+10%) -> negotiated to 3070 (+8%) then decided to leave. Last, the move out charge is absurd. It includes 225$ cleaning fee, 300$ painting, 564$ carpet replacement, and 473$ accelerated rent fee that are unreasonable to me, when the inspection sheet says everything is either “Good” or “All OK”. Especially with the fact that my apartment had a scheduled renovation and the carpet will be replaced by hardwood anyway, charging painting and carpet replacement to the previous tenant is unreasonable in my opinion. I also provided 30-day ahead my move out date to be exactly the lease end day, therefore the accelerated rent fee is unreasonable to me as well. (will update on this)- Safety 0/1: This is a gated community but the gate is broken on average 3-4 months per year. While the gate is powered down, it is half time left open so it beat the initial purpose of being a gated community. Pedestrian entrance is sometimes open with a broken lock. The street across usually parks 5-10 mobile homes. Tailgating is common and there's no solution because of the gate design. Despite I generally felt safe in this community, I have seen suspicious people inside the community and have had packages stolen within 15 minutes of delivery.- Hygiene 0.5/1: The community is generally a clean place, but there're places that can improve. For example, there're trash stains or food leaked out of bag along the way through which the trash bags are taken from apartments to outside trash cans. The leaked food will remain on the stairs and roads for months and it is still not cleaned. I have received multiple emails in the past two years suggesting that there's a stair / patio / something cleaning scheduled, but they all end up being delayed to a TBD date. Maybe I missed it but I personally have not seen or hear one. I have seen rat inside the community - not around the trash cans, but inside the buildings and on peoples patios.Next are the pros:- Floor Plan and Noise 1/1: Estancia had one of the best floor plans I have seen in the Bay Area. I lived in a 1B1B and the ~800 sqft floor plan felt spacious. If the balcony is facing the right direction, there's ample sun light. Noise concern is case-by-case: I personally don't find the airplane noise annoying. I have had above neighbors who are high school students who like alcohol, party, and loud music - it wasn't bearable at all. After they left, my above neighbors are decent normal people and I only occasionally hear their footsteps.- Maintenance 1/1: Estancia has an amazing local maintenance team! Thank you, James, Alberto, and many others that helped with my repair tickets. They are honest, fast, and careful. Most of my requests are taken care of within 2-3 days. For the ones that take longer, such as a dishwasher replacement and a dryer replacement, they gave proper heads up and kept me in the loop.To conclude, I generally had a good **living** experience with Estancia for the past two years. While I understand the incentive of making profit for a public company (Equity) and the renewal part is not controlled by the Estancia team, I consider it bad intent to place unreasonable charges and bet on the tenant is unaware / lazy so they can make a bit extra from the tenant. Because of this, you should only consider living in Estancia if you have a higher budget and won't care about losing a few extra grands. However, with a higher budget there're many other better, newer, and safer communities to choose from, so Estancia can't be an attractive option.
CONTRACTORS WAREHOUSE
2800 Kifer Rd, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
Perhaps OK if you are buying everything you need directly off the floor. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PLACE A SPECIAL ORDER. I really cannot emphasize this enough. We are building an ADU and ordered Milgard windows and doors and it has been a total disaster. First, windows were ordered incorrectly. Then, when 1/2 of the order arrived they never called me so the windows sat in the backroom for who knows how long, during which time several of the window parts (cranks) went missing. Trying to get the special order desk to correct this issue was completely infuriating. I must have called 10 times -- no exaggeration. Resolution time: 3 months.Another example: I ordered a $10 nail trim for a door. That was months ago and I never heard from them. Unfortunately every time you call the wait time is so long it is not worth my time to inquire about my order. We got the nail trim elsewhere (same thing well do for all future needs). Resolution time: never closed and I dont have the time to call them back (see comment below).Another example: Replacement windows were due by a certain date. Called the store, they said they would call Milgard and get back to me b/c they had not arrived. Dont hold your breath for a call back, youll be long dead. Ive got a call back 1 out of 10 times with these guys.Ultimately I think they are so COMPLETELY UNDERSTAFFED they cannot deal with any issue not staring them directly in the face at that very moment.Ive been on this ride for 6+ months with these guys. So sad. Ill never, ever be back.
