As I sit here, stranded in the Fresno airport, I decided to take the time to rip this godforsaken rental company apart. I have been traveling for 14 hours from Detroit for a job interview that the universe clearly doesnt want me to make it to. I have to be in San Luis Obispo at 10 am tomorrow. I knew I would be flying in late, so I called Avis, THIS AVIS, 3 SEPARATE TIMES to confirm that they would still be here when I landed. All 3 times they said YES, despite me saying Your hours say midnight. Are you SURE? Yes, maam, we will be there. We are open until 4 AM.After changing 4 flights and flying across the entire continental US, I have finally arrived in Fresno just to find that Avis is, in fact, NOT open until 4 am at this location. I will be sleeping on the floor of an airport, job interview in 9 hours.I called upon arriving in Fresno only to be met with the most apathetic young man who clearly has no customer service training. Unapologetic, uncaring.I will never, ever, so help me GOD, trust this company again.I joked prior to arriving that Ive had worse! (travel experiences), but I have to say, this is right up there next to being robbed in Barcelona and sleeping in THAT godforsaken airport. The only thing that made that worse was cockroaches. Well see if that changes over the next 5 hours.Pardon my French but **** AVIS.Super glad I downed an extra strength 5 hour energy on the plane to make the drive tonight. Ill sit here, wired, until morning. God help you, Avis. If you think Im mad now, just wait till I get to talk to someone.10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.UPDATE: The Avis representative arrived at the airport at 5 am. I merely stood up, and the representative snapped at me, I DONT OPEN UNTIL 6.Ok. Ill be here. Just like I have been for the last 5 hours. At 6, the Grinch finally allowed me to approach. I tell her I am in a HUGE rush as I have a job interview to get to, and that I already spent the whole night there because I was fed lies. She looks and sneers, Well, if you had told me you had an interview, I would have checked you in. I explain my situation and that I just want the keys and to leave. I dont have time to fight with her about how I was lied to and screwed. She says there was a note that they were supposed to wait for me the night before, its unfortunate that they didnt. Yes, unfortunate. My head didnt physically explode, but that was it. I snatched the keys and left.As I said multiple times in this review, I will NEVER recommend this company. My blood pressure is permanently raised.

Beware when returning your rental here. You'll be lied to for extra money.I booked my truck rental from Beverly Hills to return on Monday morning at this location. I was not told that they would be closed on my drop off date. I showed up and found that they were. Inconvenient but no problem as long as I'm not charged for something that I wasn't told of. When I called customer service, they informed me that I would be charged and to just explain the situation to them to take the charge off. When I showed up, I was helped by a woman who barely spoke to me and looked annoyed to have to help me. I explained my situation and she assured me I wouldn't be charged the extra day. She said I owed $160 and I asked if that was extra days charges. She assured me again it wasn't, while also confirming this with her superiors. I was confused by the charge, but I was very tired from the trip so I paid the fee only to be given the receipt and it said extra day charge. When I tried to talk about it, I was told to wait for the manager. Then I was told to call the original location where I booked it because they couldn't do anything about it. I was lied to by this location. I was luckily able to get customer service to help me refund it after a long time on the phone and them having to call this location repeatedly to confirm what happened to me since they would not answer the phone. Overall, unacceptable treatment to be lied to.

If I could give 0 stars, I would...I booked a 12-passenger transit van on January 4th, 2024 for my June 22nd, 2024 wedding. The van was to be used for round-trip transportation for my 70 guests for the bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception. I was called a week prior to my wedding by the Fresno CA Downtown location to inform me that a transit van would not be available for my booked dates because it was overbooked. I was offered a 5-passenger vehicle instead. I was told to call customer service to address the issue.I called customer service to explain the situation and was told that a manager would contact me in 24-48 hours. I called the branch to discuss this with the manager and was told that I would receive a callback from the manager. I have yet to receive a callback from the manager after over 24 hours. I have called the branch multiple times after waiting 24 hours for a return call. I either get placed on hold immediately and remain on hold with no pick-up or sent directly to the Avis directory.I called customer service again today, where I was told that the local branch had canceled my reservation. I was again told to call the local branch to address my concerns. Ive tried, but again, they do not pick up.Ultimately, this experience makes me concerned about renting from Avis Budget Group again. For a company with over 75 years of making plans and keeping them, I have been very disappointed with their actual ability to keep plans. This experience has not only been impactful for my trip but also for the 70 guests in attendance for our wedding.

I am so pleased with the service I received at Enterprise. I cant tell you how happy I was.I walked into the Enterprise rental car on North Abbey in Fresno, I was distraught, upset and feeling like I was not going to be able to find a way out of my situation. My transmission was fried in my car and I had no form of transportation. I had very little money and my credit was just ok. When I walked into the Enterprise Rental Car on North Abbey in Fresno, I was greeted by Oscar as soon as I walked in the door. I told him I had a reservation. He had me in a rental car and out of there in less than 15 minutes. He was the most polite customer service person Ive ever dealt with. He asked me if there was anything else he could do for me? Thats when I broke down, he listened to my situation and told me to go see Andrew over at Enterprise car sales just up the street and told me everything would be okay. Never in a million years did I think that this young man would even bother to help someone like me, or even care what happened to me after I left. Oscar didnt just help me with a rental car, he called ahead and spoke with Andrew ar qîù there and met with Andrew, who by the way gives a whole new experience to buying a car, he was kind, honest and he also reassured me that everything would be ok. I was thinking to myself like where has this company been all my life, they actually care! Sure enough I was approved and purchased a 2020 Nissan Versa with very low miles and a very low down payment and was fully refunded for my rental car. I will never go anywhere else to rent or purchase a vehicle, ever again. Oscar and Andrew went far beyond their job descriptions to make sure i had what I needed when I left Fresno and I was still able to make it on time for work. Thank you Oscar, and thank you Andrew, you are exactly what companies need when it comes to customer service, you actually do your job to the fullest of your ability and you actually take the time to listen because you care! Thank you both for everything. I will refer everyone I know your way I couldnt be happier.Thank you again,Mary ChristieMadera, CA

I worked with them in getting my move off the road. First I had reserved a cargo van for my trip about a week in advance. I felt the cargo van would be better suited to my senior body that has trouble climbing in and out of high places. When I arrived there were no cargo van. They offered the next one up, 12 footer for the same price. I had a timeline that I needed to keep so I took it. It looked fairly new so I drove it home. About 15 - 20mins fromrental site. I found the AC didnt work. I called and the young woman was apologetic and would call her boss and see if the could get another one. Not going to Texas without AC. In the interim of waiting I had to call the loaders and postpone to the next day. By the time the truck was available it was pushing 5pm. I exchanged the van, did our walk round and the cab was nice and cool. The AC was working. Boss took off $100 dollars of rental. That was nice. The loaders showed up the next day and within an hour I was on my way.I drove van over the grapevine on I5 south. I stopped to get gas around Newhall. When I started up the van I saw a message Transmission is hot, idle engine. I did that a few minutes. No change.I wanted to head out so I turned off the AC hoping that would take pressure off engine and headed East on 210. The light was still on. I pulled over and parked in a parking lot for 20-25 min with the engine off. When I restarted engine no warning light. I continued down the 210, but I noticed the engine light was now on. A few more miles and the Transmission warning came on. So I was pulling over to the off ramp when the truck kicked and made a thud sound. I believe from roar of the engine and not being able to shift, the truck was stuck in second gear.Im now sitting in the truck out front of a diner waiting for roadside assistance. That was about 45 minutes ago, when I called for help, no ETA. TBC???

Three times in the past I have made reservations with this location. Twice I received a call telling me they were canceling because there would be no car available. The airport location is maybe two miles away from this one. They didnt offer to change the pick up to the airport or help me in any way at all and when I tried to do it myself it doubled the cost of the rental. The lack of consideration or help at this location is unreal. They cancel you with no care about leaving you in a bad situation. I canceled the third reservation and made it with Hertz. I will not try to do business with this location ever again and have already warned friends and family to avoid them or risk being without transportation when its needed.- In reply to the owner below - There is nothing further to address. A car not being available is no excuse for just dumping a customer with no concern to the situation you left them in. Twice, I was not offered any kind of options or help and did not even received an apology. Regardless of the nature of your business, you can change the way you treat people.

2 stars. 4 stars for Penske customer service by the staff and 0 for their Fresno manager.Rented a 12' truck through Penske at the Home Depot. Packing blankets were missing and required me to drive to the Fresno location on Malaga (approx 20 mins south). The 1-800 Penske customer service person was nice, the desk representative when I arrived was helpful (although it took over 20 mins to receive a credit back for the blankets). What I was truly offended by was the attitude and manner of their manager, Alex. The desk rep sought his assistance to complete the transaction. Alex came out of his office to the front desk; never acknowledged my presence as I stood 3' away or apologized to me being inconvenienced. He spent a few minutes trying to do whatever he thought he could do. Acknowledged to the rep that he was unable and that the rep had to re-enter all the information again(further delay). Turned on his heel. And walked out. It was rude behavior by any standard. How does someone like that get put into a managerial position? It will be a good question to ask their corporate office.

Im surprised to see poor reviews. I dropped off a 26 truck ( a little small for the drop off spot), but the man who helped me check it in guided me in and gave me information for the best places to fill the truck back up with fuel. The lady who processed the paperwork was very friendly and helped me with the gas shortage. I was really impressed with their service especially since it was right at closing time. Id highly recommend.

U-Haul Moving & Storage of Mid City
749 N Blackstone Ave, Fresno, CA 93701, United States
I had to store my uBoxes at 749 Blackstone in Fresno, California for 11 months while I searched for an apartment. Though I was supposed to have access to my uBoxes during that time, I was did not. The location requires 24 hours notice to access your uBoxes and never answers their phone in order to allow you to arrange 24 hours notice. If you go down to the location to arrange notice, when you arrive at the arranged time, you will find that there is no record in the system of your previous visit and arrangement, even if you call a couple hours before the prearranged time to verify that your uBox will be ready for access. This location is IMPOSSIBLE to work with. The Manager, Heath, acts like customers are a nuisance and that he has far more important things to do, and that he cant take the time to assist in any way or resolve any issues. He straight out insults customers and accuses them of lying. He frequently requests a call back immediately in messages and then is never available, even IF someone at the location answers the phone.Corporate is more than willing to message or email him to request that he contact you, but these messages go universally unanswered. This district manager is equally uncooperative and accused me of lying when I had called the location over and over again for an hour and a half straight, informing me that the calls also ring in her office. After physically arriving at the location, I stood at the front desk (which was unmanned) and called the location 3 times and listened to the phones ring, unanswered, all three times until each call was automatically transferred to corporate. This is not an isolated incident and is my consistent experience over the last year, along with the experience of everyone I have complained about uHaul to since moving to Fresno.Though I had pre-arranged my uBoxes to be ready to be transported to my new apartment today, and despite calling again this morning and confirming my reservation and verifying that everything was going to be available for the moving company I had hired, it was, in fact, not ready at the arranged time and the location refused to release my boxes or prepare them until a $5 fee I had not been informed of was paid. They refused to accept payment from the movers I had hired, and Heath, the manager, stood idly outside the glass doors while the movers I hired listened to the phone inside ring over and over again (corporate could not accept my payment and was unaware of any fee), and when the mover called me and attempted to give his phone to the manager so he could take my payment, the manager turned and left instead of accepting his phone and taking my payment.I had to hire an Uber to go down to the uHauls physical location in order to pay this $5 fee (costing me an additional $30) in order to pay it.That is COMPLETELY and TOTALLY unreasonable and I will absolutely never work with uHaul again simply because the number of times I have complained about this location, the number of corporate customer service representatives who have told me how many complaints they have received already about this location, and the terrible reputation this location has among other companies in Fresno - Not to mention that I was completely unable to access any of my property, despite paying $120 a month for storage including access, for the last 11 months AS WELL AS being unable to move my property to another storage facility (due to lack of access) and the rudeness, insults, and complete disregard Ive dealt with from management at this location and apathy from corporate. The boxes I stored in my uBoxes at this location have water damage and many were falling apart as a result when we unpacked the uBoxes and there were mouse droppings all over my items. So in addition to not being able to access my items and refusing to release them to me or allowing me to transfer them to any other location (I tried), the uBoxes themselves are not secure. This is my worst experience dealing with any company ever and I will never work with uHaul again.
