Budget Car Rental
780 N McDonnell Rd, San Francisco, CA 94128, United States
I rented a car from this location on March 9 around 7:30A.M. The car was not functioning correctly, so I went back to the location to exchange the vehicle.Once arriving back to the rental car location, I pulled the car into the returns section. I kindly asked the employee numerous questions and ended up deciding to exchange the Tesla Model Y for a different Tesla Model Y.The employee doing returns printed out the ticket I would need to exchange the car for a different one. She explained I just have to go to the Avis Preferred counter on the 3rd floor. Before exchanging cars, Employee1 pointed my husband and I to the direction of another Tesla Model Y. He told us its possible to switch to that one if we like it; and everything works. As soon as my husband and I reviewed the new Tesla Model Y, I walked to the Avis Preferred counter and informed the employee I am here to exchange a car. Before I got the chance to hand over my paperwork, Employee 2 rudely asked what car am I trying to get. Then, said we dont have that car here. I explained that Employee 1 allowed us to see the car already; and its parked in the garage. The employee then smirked and rudely said Well go tell employee 1 to rent you out the car than. Employee 3 chimed in and said can you bring us the key for the new car; and they can search in the system if the car is available or not. After walking back in the garage and retrieving the car key, I arrived to the counter. I did not even have to hand over the key, Employee 2 states Oh. We have the car available. Then, he finally decided to take my exchange receipt and proceeded to read my name Tseng Mathis off of the paper. He whispers to me Are you Asian? At this point I felt racially profiled. Employee 2 proceeded to process the vehicle exchange .While I was at the counter doing the vehicle exchange, my husband calls me from the rental car garage and says, Someone is putting their belongings into the new Tesla. I explained that is impossible as the employees told me to retrieve the keys from the car prior to doing the vehicle exchange; and they were completing the request to switch cars. Employee 2 informed me to tell my husband to tell the customer that the car is already rented out to us.My husband and I begin to put our items into the new Tesla Model Y. Another employee pulls up in a Tesla Model S with his manager standing outside the car. I informed employee 1 what was happening; and he informed me that he gave the Tesla Model Y to the gentleman(the new customer). His manager was confused as I explained what had happened on my husband and Is end as well. The manager explained that the situation is not our fault; and the customer was given another car.All in all at this location:I felt disrespected and like my time was wasted(walking back and forth to a parking garage just to have an employee tell me the car was in the system; and I didnt have to walk back and forth to obtain the key). This location lacked proper communication between employees(Employee 1 says the car is available, I can inspect it to see if thats the car I will exchange with the current car I have, then gives it to another customer without informing me.) Employee 2 states that the car is mine. The exchange contract is complete.I felt racially profiled by Employee 2 for whispering am I Asian based off my skin tone, features, and last name.My husband and I were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary that weekend; and we are in the process of deciding between a Tesla Model Y vs Model S. So we intentionally booked a Tesla Model Y in advance. To have felt racially discriminated, disrespected, and inconvenienced trying to rent a car from Budget was a horrible kick off to a beautiful weekend. A process that should take up to 20 minutes delayed us over an hour. I can assure we will never rent from Budget or Avis again after this incident.

Avis Car Rental
miles north of SFO, 230 Harbor Way #1.5, South San Francisco, CA 94080, United States
This is a deceitful and irresponsible company. Unless they are willing to genuinely address the issues and offer solutions, I might consider adjusting my review. Its unfortunate that they caused such significant losses, showed no willingness to compensate, and even deducted an extra $178 from us post-rental for additional services. When I mentioned that I never authorized this charge, the customer service just apologized for the inconvenience? There wasnt even an indication of reversing the charge.-Ive always held Avis in high regard due to its reputed service, which is why I chose you without hesitation for my recent trip, especially this is our honeymoon..From October 6th to October 10th, I rented a vehicle from Avis. My usage of the car was routine, having rented cars in numerous countries without any issues in the past. However, on October 9th, we stayed overnight at Crater Lake National Park. While it rained that night, the temperature was a mild 32°F (0°C). On the morning of October 10th at 6:30 AM, when we were set to head to Medford Airport, we found the car wouldnt start. It became evident that the cars battery was at fault, through no wrongdoing on our part. We watched as other visitors in the national park departed without any issues, yet we were stranded.I even saw other travelers with the exact same model of car drive off without any issues, clearly indicating that the battery of the car assigned to us had problems. This unforeseen event disrupted our entire schedule. We spent nearly 7 hours, from 6:30 AM to around 1:00 PM, waiting for a tow truck. By the time we reached Medford Airport, it was already 3:00 PM. We had missed our 1:00 PM flight to Salt Lake City due to the faulty battery provided in your vehicle. Unfortunately, there were no other direct flights available that day, forcing us to reschedule our tickets, incurring an additional cost of $618. On top of that, we had to find accommodation in Medford, adding another $107 to our expenses. This incident not only caused financial strain but also significant stress.I genuinely believe we deserve compensation for the losses endured due to this incident. Not only do I request the rental fee for this trip to be waived, but I also believe Avis should cover the additional expenses incurred, including the flight adjustment of $618 and the accommodation cost of $107.This is a deceitful and irresponsible company. There wasnt even an indication of reversing the charge. The most ludicrous part is their customer service always apologizes for the inconvenience, but they never offer any tangible solutions to address the issue. When I asked them why I was charged this amount (especially after being told that I had paid in full, only to discover the deduction after the trip), they never directly answered the question. Instead, they just kept repeating their apologies for the inconvenience. Its baffling. Did I rent from a scam company or what??? Unless Avis they are willing to genuinely address the issues and offer solutions, I might consider adjusting my review.

Quick, polite, no frills and gets the job done. Guy at the front desk (cant recall his full name, starts with an S, samud?) did a really good job quickly getting my reservation up and keys in my hand. Good location over the pricey taxes they tack on at the airport location. Tip: No harm asking if its possible to return to airport at no additional cost. For my case, turns out they needed a car delivered to the airport anyway, so they just swapped my return location at no cost. Thanks Budget!

SIXT Rent a Car
Rental Car Center, 780 N McDonnell Rd, San Francisco, CA 94128, United States
I had a reservation for a minivan at another agency that I had made months previously. But when I arrived they told me they didn’t have any minivans- sorry. This van was crucial for my needs and I was in a bind. I went to Sixt with no reservation and Joseph at the counter hooked me up. He even tried to find some discounts that would help take the sting out of same day rental pricing. I was so grateful that my plans weren’t ruined! The minivan was brand new and a great ride. I recommend Sixt for their friendliness and professionalism and especially a big THANK YOU to Joseph!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car
780 N McDonnell Rd, San Francisco, CA 94128, United States
We had trouble with our car but numerous people at three different Enterprise locations helped us with our situation. After our car wouldn't start, I was able to get a jump and drive it to the Enterprise at 891 E El Camino Real in Mountain View, CA. All the associates I worked with there were extremely courteous and helpful and they put us in a pickup truck to at least get us to our next stop. Although they did not have the same type of car we needed, they checked locations and directed us to the San Jose Airport to swap out the temporary vehicle. We arrived at the airport and Jasmine and Izzy were also extremely courteous and accommodating and they got us in a car quickly. They offered us several choices to ensure we felt comfortable driving off the lot. When we returned that car to the SF airport (where we first picked up our car), we explained our issues to Branch Manager Tevin Truong. He was very patient with us and listened to our lengthy story during a time of peak returns. Like the aforementioned reps, Tevin was also very sympathetic to our situation and apologized for what we had to endure with the car we first had. He was very personable and professional and was able to expeditiously rectify the situation for us in a manner which far exceeded our expectations. We were extremely pleased with everyone we dealt with at Enterprise and will continue to rent cars from them because excellent customer service is hard to find.

Trekker Vans

I absolutely love camping and being outdoors, but ever since we've had kids I've been hesitant to try. We have a close group of friends that wanted to do a quick getaway. Most of us like camping but a handful are adverse to it. When Autocamp was booked up we thought van camping was a happy medium and convinced them to come along with us. Heard good things about Trekker Vans and the pickup/ drop off spot is close to our home. We met our friends at the drop off location. They were able to reserve their 3 spaces. Since we have 3 kids 8,6 & 2.5 yrs old, we had our eldest sit in the other van with our friends daughter (3yrs old) and a walkie talkie. That was a fun adventure in itself! We were all ready to go to drop off our car at home and I realized I forgot to pick up a birthday cake! Picked up the cake and was about to run inside the house to get another cooler bag when my husband reminded me that there was a fridge drawer in the van. What a relief since the drive was 3 hours north and we planned on stopping at a kid friendly winery on the way to camp. We rented the roof top van and as soon as it was set up all the kids wanted to climb up. The fact that the van comes with everything you need already packed neatly in the storage compartments made setting up camp so easy and painless especially with 3 kids. My kids and husband slept in the rooftop tent (their favorite experience during the trip) and I slept in the van with my toddler. It was nice to have the additional sound barrier of the van since my toddler still cries for milk in the middle of the night. The ladder also came in handy when setting up the hammock in the tree so that it wasn't dragging on the ground. Also loved the velcro to keep the curtains from opening inside the van, front and side window shades, sink to wash up at night, storage under bed to keep clothes out of the way and storage under the roof tent top tent to keep your tent clean and shoes convenient to reach. We had a 4 van caravan each with our own walkie talkie. So useful when cell service and internet is no where to be found. So much fun! Can't wait to do this again for an even longer and more adventurous trip. Thanks to trekker vans for such a comfortable and memorable experience !!

U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer
800 Avenue H, San Francisco, CA 94130, United States
Reserved online a week & 1/2 in advance. Originally wanted a 20' truck for 2 days. Reservation did not reflect this, so I called directly. I spoke with Nef, who tried to be helpful but honestly was not the most knowledgeable staff. He kept getting off the phone and was not able to answer any of my questions on his own. After he “fixed” my order, he said I was good to pick up as scheduled. Fast forward 3 days later, I get another call from a UHaul representative (18 hrs before we're supposed to pick up) who said my guaranteed reservation was not honored by Treasure Island and the closest truck available to me at this point is in LIVERMORE (over an hour away from current and new address).BUYER BEWARE: Do not reserve from this location ever. They don't know what they're doing and will play in your face with these bogus reservations. Moving is stressful enough without an unreliable service wasting your time and money. This is now the second time I've been screwed during a move by UHaul and I will no longer use their services.Speaking to the individual location is pointless, I'm going straight to corporate to try and salvage this mess.

Peninsula Tour
1630 Davidson Ave, San Francisco, CA 94124, United States
6/28/13HELLO, WINE COUNTRYThe Les Faneurs French group of South San Francisco recently organized their annual trip to Wine Country. Two Peninsula Tour buses were used: one picked up members at the Basque Cultural Center in South SF and the other met us at a Park and Ride lot in San Rafael. We had spent the night with my in-laws in Petaluma so the San Rafael pick-up was perfect. We were there 20 minutes early and while the bus was not a minute early, it was on time. We found seats in the back - it had made another local stop before ours so it was half-full before arriving. The bus was clean, though, I thought the material of the seats was a little rough. The air-conditioning worked great which was really important because it was a very hot day. Fans above the seat allow personal control of how much air blows on you.I want to say there were a hundred people total on both buses but I feel like it was more than 50 people per bus. Regardless, the drivers did a great job with our large group. We were first headed to the Domaine Carneros Winery in Napa and cringed when the driver took 37, since it was NASCAR weekend, but Saturday is only for qualifying and less popular races, so we got lucky with light traffic. After Napa, the drivers maneuvered the large buses up the windy road to Meadowood in St. Helena. Our personal items were left on the bus in between stops and everything was safe and accounted for. The drivers drove safely. They moved slowly in and out of parking lots and left safe distances between them and other cars. I felt confident we were in good hands and really enjoyed the entire day - especially since I didnt have to do any driving after indulging in wine.

When I originally came to Uhaul a few days days before my move, I told the female rep that I wanted to rent a truck, but I dont drive, however I wanted to reserve the truck and have the person driving come pick it up with his license. I was told I couldnt rent the truck yet but would have to bring my driver with me the day I was going to rent it have him show his ID, and rent the truck, and I would pay for it.But when we got there all the trucks had been reserved (the rep never told me this was the busy time of the month, otherwise I wouldve had my driver out there a week before so I could rent the truck I wanted) and I could only get a cargo van which was way too small for all my furniture, etc.I asked to use the Uhaul parking lot to park the van overnight after my move, because my driver lives in Antioch and it would be easier for him to leave the van here, instead of driving. The manager incorrectly told us there was no parking available, even though one of his subordinates said there was, after which he reluctantly agreed. But by this point wed been in the store for over an hour, everyone was irritated....we were ready to go and the reps did not hide the fact they were ready for us to be gone.Because the cargo van was so small and we werent able to get parking, the van had to make several trips to and from Antioch and to my apartment. Ultimately, Im disappointed the bill was so high because I think better communication on the part of the Uhaul reps wouldve helped the situation.
