Paradise Sewing

Ive been sewing N95 style masks until my Singer started giving me problems when winding the bobbin. After reading the entire Singer manual and comment threads pertaining to the Fashionista model, specifically the error code E2, I found out that the reason my bobbin shaft spun and immediately stopped to give that error code was because of the clutch, but it had to be taken apart to get to it, so I took it in to get serviced at this place (Paradise Sewing in Poway). After a lady looked at it, she then gave it to the Asian man there in the photo you see on the far right with all the Asian Ladies. He said the problem is that it needs a new part (winding bobbin shaft) and that its hard to find because at the time that model was made, Singer was under different Management so its going to cost about $60 if he cant find one in his stock. He also said its going to cost $90 in labor. Thats $150 to replace a part that it does not need. He then said, with the amount I was going to spend, I might as well buy another one, and he proceeded to offer the industrial size sewing machines from his store that are quadruple the price of my Singer Fashionista! I didnt come there to buy a new machine. I said I was going to take it somewhere else, took my machine, and left.I found a smaller store with a red sign next to a gas station, it was on the way to the Paradise sewing called Vaccum and sewing. The man at this place didnt take long to recognize what the error was when he noticed that the needle should not be moving at the same time the shaft is spinning. Without me telling him anything, he said it was the clutch and he only charged me $79. He was even going to lubricate it too. I left my sewing machine with him because he has a lot of orders ahead of mine and I live quite far from Poway. It should be ready by tomorrow.I still think about how wronged I felt and how the man from Paradise Sewing operates with such dishonesty. Had I not known what the problem was, I would have thought my machine could never be repaired and would have wasted a lot of money buying a new one. That is why I decided to write this review.

The store in Ukiah and in Santa Rosa have the best quality merchandise that is needed in the quilting industry. I have bought 2 sergers and three different sewing machines that I just love from Lisa in Ukiah who knows her machines and was very helpful in my search for what I wanted. I now have traveling machines, and the others are in different locations. I have had my older sewing machines in for service, and Dave, the repair technician, is wonderful and knowledgeable. Thanks to all that have helped me be happier in my old age and getting me back on track.

Moores Sewing & Vacuum - Temecula

I was working on a quilting project and needed a sewing machine that could do minor lettering. I found Moore’s Sewing and Vaccum in Temecula. I purchased a Babylock Verve Sewing and Embroidery machine. The service was excellent….all my questions were answered, I received it very fast ( I live on the same side of the country…but I got it in two days) and when I got it, of course as you would expect from Babylock…it was excellent! With any new skill…It took a day to learn the embroider element as this was new to me. The end result, I am very, very happy with this purchase and with Moore’s Sewing and Vacuum in Temecula. I would purchase from them again. Highly Recommend! I am a very happy customer!

I had a brother sewing I bought in Reno for my granddaughter in Chico and it would not sew. While visiting, I took to Cathy’s sew/vac and the sweetest gal, Tori, looked at it and detected the problems immediately ( threaded wrong and bobbin placed wrong) and remedied it on the spot for no charge ! Great customer service, Tori! Way to go!!!

I went in to buy a serger but had never used one and didn't know much about them. The salesperson was very helpful and took time to explain all the ways a serger can be used. I was able to try one and she explained that my life would be so much easier if I went with one that had Air Jet Threading. I was not expecting to spend the extra money for that but my husband encouraged me to so I did. I have to be honest and say that I almost started hyperventilating with how much I was spending. I paid about $120 for my brother sewing machine about 17 years ago at Walmart and it's still going strong. I will say that it sat in the box in my garage for about 10 years but have only consistently used it for the past 2 years. The salesperson was extremely patient with me and reassured me I was making the right decision without being pushy and salesy. I was so nervous and indecisive but finally decided to give her my credit card. Yes, I was that bad. LOL. I've had my Babylock Celebrate for almost 2 months now and I have to say I am so happy that I bought it. I love the Jet Air threading! It has made my life so much easier. I've been able to make myself several knit tops (I'm still working on perfecting my neck bands) and have been able to make tons of linen hand and kitchen towels. I love serging things before hemming. I no longer have to iron my hems before hand. That in itself is worth what I paid. There was a spring promotion during the time I purchased my machine and the sales lady forgot to include the fancy thread and 6 months of free Babylock classes. I don't blame her at all for forgetting. I'm sure my hesitation to buy probably distracted her and she forgot. I called Moore's and they were great about getting me what was included in the Spring Promotion. I say that's great customer service and along with a very helpful salesperson, I'm happy I went to Moore's.

This is a mom and pop business that has earned and deserves our support. From sewing machine support and service to sewing classes ( mine were with Linda), 5 stars all around. My then husband bought a sewing machine and serger for me here in 2015. I had these machines serviced at Tanners this May. I received excellent service both then and now. Ian knows sewing machines like the back of his hand and better. He is an honest dealer with an excellent reputation in the community. Rick is Pfaff expert and has recently been very helpful with tips on using my pfaff sewing machine. If you want a quality used sewing machine or serger, this is the place to go.Last but definitely not least, lets talk about the sewing classes with Linda. Recently during quarantine, I have been taking the adult sewing classes. Linda is the most patient and knowledgeable instructor that you can find. Without her I would not have been able to complete on time and professionally a beautiful mens dress shirt for my father for his 88th birthday. He LOVES it!!! Since the completion of that project, she has been teaching me tricks for getting collars to look perfect, how to sew a bow and ribbon onto a hat, how to make a bow/ necktie and how to look at different fabrics both by design (ie plaid) and the material. I have seen her help people create patterns out of existing clothing. The classes are set up for 4 students but Linda finds a way to make sure everyone gets what they need. Linda is kind, diplomatic, and even tempered. She is a loving peaceful person and is excellent in managing children. I have seen her during a childrens class. She is patient and inspires confidence in children as they complete simple to complex projects. If you are a parent and interested in sewing classes for your child, look no further. If you have desires to improve your sewing skills no matter what your age, Tanners Linda is your gal. 5 stars for this establishment all around!

Go here before buying your next vacuum cleaner! I know you want to just read reviews and buy online or at some big box store. But why not treat yourself to the advice of someone who repairs them all of the time? I was ready to shell out big appliance money for a new Miele. Ive had two Miele canister vacs, and the oldest one (at least 18 years old) was still going strong (the newer one did not last half that long). Except in the middle of house cleaning the 18-year olds motor stopped working. Well, it was a good life little buddy. We read the Consumer Reports reviews and headed to Best Buy, but oops, they dont stock Miele. On a whim I called Ace, which happens to be open on Saturdays. Do you have a new Miele canister, I asked, Im replacing an 18-year old workhorse? The owner replied Well, yes, but you dont want it. You want a real German machine, such as Sebo. Miele is now mostly made in China and will last just about its 3-year warranty period, or often less. Sebo is warranteed for 10 years, but you will not need to replace it that soon. We zipped over (loosely speaking, given Saturday afternoon LA traffic) and the cool Ace throwback shop was full of interesting new vacuum cleaners and new and used sewing machines, including some old metal sewing machines just like I used to use in a factory setting, wishing I could bring one home. And three models of Sebo canister vacs all for less than the cheapest Miele. Since we dont have any carpet, the owner recommended the lowest-cost model. Are you kidding me? No upsell? We gave it a practice run - what a zippy little machine - and brought it home to finish our weekend house cleaning. This is the type of business that deserves your effort. I mean youd drive to Best Buy, so just drive to Ace Vac and Sew! They also sell online, if you really want to go that way. Our cute Sebo is so lightweight, and easy to maneuver, and it sucked up all of the cat hair covering our hardwood with no problem. Thank you Ace Vac and Sew!

Talk about OG customer service! I came in to have an old sewing machine serviced and it cost me $63. Joseph, the mechanic, called me up and asked me what I wanted to sew with, essentially setting it up so it could sew denim. He was honest, saying it would work and it might be a bit much for the machine to handle but to take it easy while sewing such material, as it required more torque and a slower rate to sew denim. I was promptly called up a few days latter to pickup the machine. I picked it up, took it home and didnt bother to ask how to thread the bobbin or the needle, thinking I could figure it out. Steven, his Josephs brother was there and was very kind when I picked it up. However, what floored me was when I came back several days latter with my sewing machine. It was Monday or Tuesday, Joseph and the other employees were swamped with phone calls and customers. He asked me what I needed and I told him I didnt know how to thread the bobbin. Bring it in and take it back here, he said. Ten or 15 minutes later he happily sat down with me and showed me how to thread the bobbin by explaining how to set the tension on the thread and screw. Without flinching or a sign of frustration his explanation was great and the best you could ask for as a newbie to sewing machines. Thanks Joseph and ABC Sewing! Stay cool and local!.
